Ban on Mobile Phones in Schools Across Punjab

In a significant move, the Department of Education has imposed a ban on the use of mobile phones during teaching hours in all government schools across Punjab. This initiative aims to ensure discipline and a transparent educational system.

Implementation of Guidelines

A comprehensive set of 20 guidelines has been issued to district and tehsil education officers and school heads, with instructions to enforce them strictly.

  1. Mobile Phone Policy:
Teachers, students, and non-teaching staff are required to deposit their mobile phones with the head teacher during teaching hours.
  2. Mandatory Uniform and Dress Code:
    • Staff must adhere to a prescribed dress code, including formal attire with closed shoes.
    • Teachers and students are to wear name badges.
    • Students must wear navy-blue jerseys as part of their uniform.
  3. School Environment:
    • A schedule board displaying school timings must be placed at the main gate.
    • Motivational slogans will be displayed on three to four banners within school premises.
  4. Classroom Management:
    • Every class will have a designated Class Representative (CR).
    • Students will maintain a class register.
    • Whiteboards will have sections for student attendance, subjects, and key teaching points.
    • Teachers must write down key points of the lecture on the board.
  5. Hygiene and Discipline:
    • Daily checks for students’ nails and haircuts will be conducted.
  6. Assembly and Attendance:
    • Wearing a watch is mandatory for all teachers.
    • Attendance of all teachers, including the head teacher, is compulsory during the assembly.

These steps are expected to enhance focus, discipline, and the overall learning environment in schools.
