In a significant move, the Department of Education has imposed a ban on the use of mobile phones during teaching hours in all government schools across Punjab. This initiative aims to ensure discipline and a transparent educational system.
Implementation of Guidelines
A comprehensive set of 20 guidelines has been issued to district and tehsil education officers and school heads, with instructions to enforce them strictly.
- Mobile Phone Policy:
Teachers, students, and non-teaching staff are required to deposit their mobile phones with the head teacher during teaching hours. - Mandatory Uniform and Dress Code:
- Staff must adhere to a prescribed dress code, including formal attire with closed shoes.
- Teachers and students are to wear name badges.
- Students must wear navy-blue jerseys as part of their uniform.
- School Environment:
- A schedule board displaying school timings must be placed at the main gate.
- Motivational slogans will be displayed on three to four banners within school premises.
- Classroom Management:
- Every class will have a designated Class Representative (CR).
- Students will maintain a class register.
- Whiteboards will have sections for student attendance, subjects, and key teaching points.
- Teachers must write down key points of the lecture on the board.
- Hygiene and Discipline:
- Daily checks for students’ nails and haircuts will be conducted.
- Assembly and Attendance:
- Wearing a watch is mandatory for all teachers.
- Attendance of all teachers, including the head teacher, is compulsory during the assembly.
These steps are expected to enhance focus, discipline, and the overall learning environment in schools.
