Pakistan Secures Top Spot in Social Media Engagement at Geneva Engage Awards
Pakistan’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations clinched the leading position for “social media engagement” during the 9th International Geneva Engage Awards held in Switzerland. Recognizing exceptional achievements in digital outreach, these awards applaud the efforts of non-governmental organizations, permanent representations, international bodies, and Geneva entities. The event underscores the vital connections between Geneva and global communities affected by policies on development, migration, human rights, and climate change.
Bilal Ahmad, Pakistan’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva, accepted the prestigious award, attributing the success to the dedicated teamwork at the mission and acknowledging his predecessor. Ahmad expressed gratitude to Khalil Hashmi, Pakistan’s current ambassador in Beijing, and recognized the Diplomatic Foundation for honoring Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts. He commended the Foreign Office’s unwavering commitment to public and digital diplomacy, yielding positive and promising outcomes.
In his appreciation, the ambassador highlighted the Diplomatic Foundation’s role in enhancing the influence of small and developing states in global diplomacy. The foundation focuses on training officials and building capacity in areas such as internet governance, cybersecurity, data, artificial intelligence, and emerging technology-related issues. Over the years, the foundation has successfully trained more than 7,500 alumni from 208 countries and territories.
